Embracing Sustainable Living: Join Our Journey to Freedom

Introduction:

Recently, My co-founder and I had the incredible opportunity to explore a piece of land generously donated to us in a rural predominately black town in the south. The family behind this donation shares our vision of an earth-conscious future. While our adventure wasn't without its challenges, we are now eager to embark on this remarkable endeavor. In this blog post, we'll provide you with an overview of our plans, the opportunities available, and how you can join us on this path to freedom.

Exploring the Land:

Walking through the natural beauty of the land, we encountered unexpected obstacles like blackberry bushes with razor-sharp thorns that even put rose bushes to shame. Although it was a daunting experience, we couldn't help but appreciate the potential for natural security defenses provided by these barbed vines. As we trekked through this field of mystery, capturing footage of the land, we realized the immense potential it holds. The donated land spans 6.62 acres of mostly flat clay/loam mixed soil, currently used for wheat and pine tree cultivation. While there is no established entryway, we are determined to pave the way for a brighter future.

Creating Our Community:

To kickstart our journey, my co-founder and I have decided to set up temporary shelters using geodome glam tents until we can construct cob homes for the founders. Once our permanent dwellings are ready, these glam domes will be repurposed as Airbnbs to generate revenue and support our community's growth. We are actively seeking individuals with construction, electrical, and HVAC experience to join us on this exciting venture. While the work may be demanding, the rewards will far outweigh the effort involved. We aim to make this organization as attractive as possible to individuals seeking a more sustainable and fulfilling lifestyle.

Joining Our Community:

If you are interested in becoming a part of our community, there are a few things to consider before applying. We believe in minimalism and encourage all families to minimize their belongings, occupying only a quarter of an acre for their homesite and personal garden. Additionally, saving is crucial, as there will be an initial deposit/investment required from each member over 18 years of age to cover initial property taxes, permits, and building materials. We want to foster a sense of unity, so a selfless mindset is essential—this journey is about teamwork, cooperation, and the pursuit of a shared goal: freedom. Lastly, embracing sustainability is a core principle of our community, promoting the reduction, reuse, and recycling of resources.

Overcoming Challenges:

As we prepare for this transformative lifestyle, we anticipate challenges. For instance, adjusting to cooler showers has been a personal struggle for me. However, with solar heaters, we can heat water to an average temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit, significantly reducing our environmental impact. Another challenge we face is the absence of trash service. We encourage everyone to minimize waste accumulation and find creative ways to repurpose or find alternatives to items that would typically end up in the trash. Remember, space is limited, so bring only what you truly need.

Join Us:

If you've made it this far and still wish to join us on this remarkable journey, keep an eye out for upcoming email notifications. We will be sharing further details and opening the application process soon. By embracing sustainable living, teamwork, and a common goal, we aim to create a community that offers the real American dream. Together, let's explore the possibilities, learn, and grow as we embark on this extraordinary adventure towards freedom.

Conclusion:

Thank you for joining us on this blog post, where we've shared our experiences, plans, and aspirations for our sustainable community. As we prepare to pave the way into the future, we invite you to embrace a lifestyle that promotes harmony with the earth and fosters a sense of community. Stay tuned for future updates and opportunities to join us in building a better, more sustainable tomorrow.
